I’m not sure why it rendered so poorly in Lemmy. It’s a terrible colour scheme but at least I could make out the bars when I followed the link.

Because it uses transparent background, and you’re likely using dark mode.

Ah that will be it. Still grey on transparent isn’t super accessible.

Why is it a transparent image, it’s hard to see specially in dark mode.

KDE Plasma got a once-a-year notification that asks for donations a few months ago, which shows up in December.

They showed a once per year notification which reminds people they can donate.

I think the donation notification works

I hope the conclusion is that annual notifications work.

        wikipedia is too much.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
